Flexmls now allows listing media to be marked as Public, Private, or Private While Off-Market, allowing you to change the visibility of listing Photos, Floor Plans, Videos and Virtual Tours.
What’s the difference between Public, Private, and Private While Off-Market?
- Public: visible in ARMLS and able to be opted-in to public listing displays on the web including syndication options, IDXs, and other data feeds.
- Private: visible only in ARMLS regardless of listing status
- Private While Off-Market: while on-market, visible in ARMLS and able to be opted-in to public listing displays on the web. Once off-market, media automatically becomes visible only in ARMLS.
What does this mean?
This change benefits several parties including you, other agents, appraisers, and your clients! Restricting certain photos from public listing displays and allowing them to remain in the MLS is a huge win for everyone involved.
Visibility options allow agents to no longer need to take the extra step to remove listing photos once it sells. Media can be marked as “Private While Off-Market” to automatically remove the photos from public listing feeds once the listing is placed in an off-market status. This also provides more value to listings for other subscribers to utilize the listing media to build CMA reports and more.
Appraisers gain more value to listings as important historical data can stay intact and listings can remain whole.
This function can also help address potential homeowner concerns about leaving their off-market home’s photos available on public websites. Photos are no longer available for public display outside the MLS when listing media is marked private or, depending on status, private while off-market.

Reminder about MLS Media Rules
We want to remind you that all photos, even those marked as private, need to follow the MLS media rules. Feel free to check out our media landing page for more information on what is and isn’t allowed in your photographs.
Why are we making this change?
Agents are often hearing from clients about photo privacy issues. This change helps address the concerns without requiring the listing agent to remove listing media once it sells. This topic was presented to our Agent Advisory Group (AAG) who helped approve the new enhancement.
