No, it’s not a mirage in the desert. The little hamburgers affectionately dubbed “sliders” will soon be coming to Scottsdale!

White Castle, a fast food chain based in Ohio with a cult-like following in the surrounding states, has announced plans to open White Castle Slidersits first Arizona location in 2019. This is just one of many new dining destinations slated to be part of the rapidly developing Talking Stick Resort Entertainment District, conveniently located off Loop 101, just south of Via de Ventura. With the exception of Las Vegas, which opened in 2015, this will be the only White Castle west of the Mississippi River.

Maricopa County is experiencing rapid growth and 77% of new residents hail from states other than Arizona. Because of this influx of transplants, it’s becoming more common to see favorite dining destinations from around the country (hello, Lou Malnati’s and Portillo’s) popping up throughout the Valley. With this new addition to our culinary scene, Cravers, as slider fans proudly refer to themselves as, will soon feel even more at home here.

White Castle is privately owned and does not franchise their stores. It was only after careful consideration that they chose to expand this far west. Their decision to enter the market in Arizona, and to begin in Scottsdale, shows great confidence in the outlook for our area. This is great news for everyone, even if you don’t have the crave!
