Block 23 is the newest addition to downtown Phoenix and caters to the thousands of people relocating to that area over the last 10 years. It’s located on the corner of Washington St. and 1st with designs to be a multi-use complex with commercial and residential space, along with retail stores and restaurants.

Block 23 will have approximately 330 apartments and 230,000 square feet of office space. Its first office tenant will be be Ernst and Young U.S. LLP. Sam Fox has recently signed on to expand his presence with his 6th location in the Valley, Blanco Tacos and Tequila.

But what’s different about this multiple use complex is that it has one of the things that everyone living in downtown needs- a place to get milk, eggs and bread. Block 23 will have the first downtown supermarket. Fry’s grocery store will be a major anchor of this multi-use complex. The 55,000 square foot grocery store will share the street level space with other commercial and retail businesses. Not only is this a huge deal for the folks already living their urban dream, it’s just a foreshadowing of all the growth that will be coming to the downtown Phoenix market.
